We are awarding various scholarships to people who demonstrate a commitment to launching their career in software engineering.

  • Girls in Tech

  • About

    • Launch Code After School was started by people who are passionate about providing a coding education to today’s kids so that they’re ready to be tomorrow’s leaders. Currently, only 24% of STEM jobs are currently being filled by women.
    • We believe change needs to begin at the forefront of a child’s education and we’d like to do our small part by offering 5 full-ride scholarships (12 months of our drop in learning program) to fearless girls with insatiable curiosities and a desire to change the world through coding.
  • Application criteria

    • This scholarship and its 5 awards are reserved for girls ages 8-14 who have shown strong academic or creative ability.
    • Scholarship covers cost of tuition for our Premium class for 1 year. Applicants may re-apply once a year.
  • Essay

    • We love working and playing in Austin and that’s why we started our program here at home. That being said, there’s always room for improvement! We’re reaching out to the kids of Austin to find find creative solutions which would improve the lives of Austinites. Pick a problem you currently see and describe in your essay (250-400 words) how you would solve it. You could also include pictures if they help showcase your idea. Bonus points if you incorporate the use of technology in your proposal!
    • For example, if you think it’s annoying that you have to wait for the school bus every day, then your essay could describe an app which would allow you to track the school bus route. This way you’ll know exactly when you need to leave your home to make the bus!

Current studies show that Underrepresented Minorities (URMs) only make up 10% of today’s STEM workforce. Numerous studies also point to increased diversity being associated with better business outcomes.
    • We believe change needs to begin at the forefront of a child’s education and we’d like to do our small part by offering 5 full-ride scholarships (12 months of our drop in learning program) to children with insatiable curiosities and a desire to change the world through coding.
